Reshuffle in Central Cabinet has Significance for Orissa

Subhas Chandra Pattanayak

In a system, where the ruling party members compete to exceed each other in loyalty to a particular family, staying in or going out of a cabinet berth does not merit any mention. Yet, the 28 October reshuffle in the central cabinet attracts attention; because it has certain significance for Orissa.

For the last 12 years it is ruled by a particular person – Naveen Patnaik – who heads the ruling party as well as the government. This has given birth to sycophancy in the ruling party. And, sycophancy has gone up to such shocking extent that a senior member of the cabinet, S.N.Patro could pronounce in a public meeting that he feels himself fortunate by having Naveen Patnaik as the “master” and is proud of being his servant (Chakara)!

People of Orissa are severely embarrassed over such shameless sycophancy practiced by the ministers and fellows appearing as leaders of BJD, the party that had managed to get their mandate in 2009.

Before 2009, Naveen was the Chief Minister for two consecutive terms. But, as he was then heading coalition governments partnered by BJP, there were some obstacles to his running the government like an autocrat. When Samir De, for example, was very vociferous in disagreement with him on many occasions in the cabinet meetings, Juel Oram, beyond the cabinet, was a severe critic of the CM’s wrong steps.

But the coalition with the BJP quashed, the third phase of Naveen Raj has become such a phase of unrestrained misrule that even his closest ally Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, the man who had caused quashing of the coalition, has come out openly against him. Evolution of Jan Morcha is indicative of how people of Orissa are eager to get rid of this government.

Congress begins rescue operation

This eagerness was marked in massive participation of the people in the ‘Occupy Assembly’ rally of the Congress on September 6. This rally revived organizational morality of the Congress to the chilling chagrin of Naveen, who, since May 29 internecine revolt in BJD, is in a state of nervousness.

But, like in all previous critical junctures, the Congress high command has commenced its operation for his rescue with the reshuffle in the central cabinet.

Congress MPs from Orissa are quite competent and experienced and unlike Salman Khursid, they are non-controversial.

Ram Chandra Khuntia is a renowned labor leader and a polished person. Bhakta Charan Das is a former union minister with a much unblemished career. Hemanand Biswal is a former chief minister with enough experience in administration. Any or all of them could have become better than many the Prime Minister has taken in as ministers. The lone minister from Orissa – Srikant Jena – has earned the distinction of being a non-controversial and capable minister in Singh’s council. He has distinguished marks as a central cabinet minister prior to joining Singh as a Minister of State. And, in his present position, he has not done any wrong to be denied of elevation to cabinet rank.

Why then Singh has not taken any of them into his cabinet when he knows and has declared that this is the last reshuffle before the next election? This is because; the Congress High Command wants a message to be delivered to the people of Orissa that none of Congress leaders of the province is suitable for ministerial positions. For Naveen’s benefit, such a message was essential.

Had Orissa got its legitimate share in the central cabinet, the Congress in the province, which was just waking up, could have got the much needed impetus to offer the people an alternative. But, that would have troubled Naveen Patnaik, the paragon of pro-globalization intentions that match with that of the Prime Minister. So, no new challenger to Naveen’s position was to be promoted through the reshuffle.

History of Congress sabotaging Congress in Orissa

Sabotaging the provincial Congress unit by the Congress High Command to ensure continuance of Naveen Patnaik as Chief Minister is not new.

Replacement of Jayadev Jena with K.P.Singhdeo as PCC President just before the 2009 general election is an instance.

Singhdeo is the son of the ill-famed king of Dhenkanal, Shankar Pratap, under whose tyranny the youngest martyr of India Baji Raut had lost his life.

Though a Marxist like Veer (The Brave) Baishnab Pattanayak was leading the revolution, it is the Congress under the banner of which the people of Dhenkanal had compelled the tyrant king to abdicate his throne. So, replacement of Jena with the son of the same Dhenkanal king was the worst shock the Congress rank and file in Orissa had to absorb before facing the voters. It could not, exactly as calculated by the Congress high command.

Jena, initially not considered in Orissa as the correct choice to head the PCC, had, with tremendous perseverance and dedication to his responsibility, boosted up the morality of Congress rank and file and ushered in a remarkable team spirit, which was promising enough to net in electoral success. Therefore, he had to go, under circumstances created by super-sycophants of the Congress high command, for whom continuance of Naveen Patnaik as Orissa’s Chief Minister was more necessary in the cause of plutocracy propounded by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

With Singhdeo at the helm of affairs, as calculated, the Congress in Orissa was too demoralized to gain popular support.

Singhdeo’s appointment as PCC chief just before the election was a great boon to Naveen Patnaik.

Similar boon was also granted to him by the Congress high command when Naveen was seeking mandate for the second time. Dig Vijay Singh was appointed to boss over electioneering in Orissa. Politicians dismissed by Naveen from his cabinet and BJD on corruption charges were given party tickets. Congress was rejected even when people were crying for relief from Naveen’s misrule.

Omission of Orissa’s distinguished MPs from inclusion in the cabinet and denial of elevation to Orissa’s lone member in the council of ministers to cabinet rank makes us convinced that the Congress High Command does not want the Congress in Orissa to come to a challenging position against the BJD supremo.

Origin and Development of Bhasmasura that Pyari Poses Shiv to Extirpate

Subhas Chandra Pattanayak

Orissa’s ruling party BJD is in total disarray with depiction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as the Bhasmasura (the demon that tries to destroy the master by using the tricks learnt from him) by its super brain Pyarimohan Mohapatra, who is posing Shiv for his extirpation.

Power sans proven merit

Naveen is the first man to have occupied the Chief Minister’s chair in Orissa sans any proven merit and hence, the State is in deep despair during his regime.
His father Biju Patnaik, an astute political acrobat of his time with lots of sycophants – common to influential mafias everywhere – died in a condition of rejection by the people of Orissa who had thrown him into the political dustbin after suffering a menacing misrule. J. B. Patnaik, then the State’s CM, out of political courtesy, organized a tremendous obituary for him and the magnanimous people of the State forgave him for all the damages he had done to them. And, as the people of Orissa are very simple by nature, a surge of sympathy for his bereaved family was soon seen.

Peculiar nature of the people

Let us take a short break to see how uniquely simple are the people of Orissa. I will take you to my childhood days in my native place Tigiria. Throughout the year, my father was offering a Purana Patha (recitation of epics) on the outer Veranda of our house where people of my locality, after refreshment in the evening, were gathering to hear the epics that a hired Brahmin used to recite. Ramayana and Mahabharata in Oriya were the epics that were being recited in succession. There was no electricity. The oil lamp was the only medium of light. So, beyond where the Panda was reciting the epic, there was darkness in its soothing best that the people were enjoying at the end of the active day. In that darkness the characters of the epic were, as if, reaching the rapt listeners through the rhythms of recitation, as the Brahmin , whose proficiency in adding emotions to his voice was keeping the entire environment tuned to the topic. People were coming to cheers when a hero was trouncing a villain. But they were soon in tears when the family members of the villain were crying over his death. As for example, people were cheering when Rama was making mincemeat of Ravana; but the next moment, when Mandodari was crying over the death of her husband, the cries of the same people over the demise of Ravana was gushing out in sympathy for the bereaved Mandodari. So simple were our people in my childhood days. This nature has not yet disappered despite changes.

Post-independence politico-economic complications notwithstanding, our people are, by nature, magnanimous and simple. Therefore, when Biju Patnaik died, despite the truth that, in wrath against his corruption and misrule, they had rejected him in the elections, they pardoned his offenses and joined the state obituary offered to him.

Simplicity exploited

The shrewd members of the gang of his sycophants, none of who could ever have dared to dream of occupying power in Orissa on the basis of his own strength and merit, tried to transform this obituary into a sympathy wave for his bereaved family and picking up his son Naveen as the mask, they started a political party by Biju’s name that is known as BJD. And, in the election that followed, this sympathy wave metamorphosed into ballots for Biju’s son and sycophants, who now thrive on a deliberately coined concept of Biju legacy.

So, Naveen became CM neither because of any sacrifice he has for the state, nor because of any political merit he possesses; but because of being an object of mass sympathy after becoming Baapa Cheunda (a child bereft of father).

To his good fortune, a very shrewd and intelligent former bureaucrat Pyari Mohan Mohapatra (Pyari) was available to him to give him the guidance, which he could never have got from any of the sycophants of his father, none of them having any marked political prudence, but each of them being busy in exploiting the moment to his/her personal benefit. People of Orissa became victims of their own magnanimity and simplicity.

But soon it was clear that the preening prince of Bijudom was not able to give a good administration.

Re-emergence of JB

The Congress Party had realized the mistake it had committed by replacing J. B. Patnaik with Gamango just before the elections. It tried to amend its mistake by appointing JB as the PCC Chief.

And, Naveen was no match for JB.

The scenario changed and ministers started revolting against Naveen.

JB gave a call that Naveen should quit, as he was unable to give governance. The State plunged into a state of utter confusion.

JB, as known to Pyari

While serving under JB for so many years, Pyari, the former IAS officer, had deeply understood his then political master’s peculiarities. He had understood that, JB is a man who dislikes discarding even his detractors from his circle, if once he has granted them the boon of his umbrage. He honors his foes for the good qualities, if any, discernible in them and protects the persons, howsoever bad, once they take refuge in him.

This is why he had not taken any action against super offenders like Indrajit Ray. Even sharp saboteurs like Basant Biswal and Bhagavat Mohanty were not dismissed by him despite circumstantial evidences galore to convince that they had tremendous role in Ajana Mishra gang rape episode, masterminded to expedite his removal from office.

Pyari had understood this peculiarity of JB.

The panacea Pyari prescribed

When the astute JB was humiliating Naveen and BJD leaders were at a loss to understand how to make the government functional, Pyari came to his rescue. He gave him a panacea. He advised Naveen to do what JB had never done, so as to give the people a matrix for juxtaposition of the two Patnaiks, which he was sure, would be of utmost advantage for the former.

He advised Naveen to dismiss a pack of his ministers soiling them with innuendoes of corruption even though they were the founder members of his party.

This trick created an occasion of comparison between JB and Naveen in the public and gave an image to Naveen as a crusader against corruption as against JB’s cohabitation with corrupt fellows in his regime.

This was the key to his survival in CM post at that critical juncture. And, thus the former secretary to his father had emerged as ‘uncle’ to Naveen.

Since then Naveen has dismissed many ministers, as and when necessary, to save his own skin and knowing of his wont to dismiss any minister at any time, his cabinet colleagues have remained so docile that there is no real use of collective wisdom in managing the matters of the State. And, therefore, the POSCOs and the Vedantas and the Tatas and the Ravishankars and the likes have used the administration to transform Orissa to their grazing ground. People of Orissa have perished.

Abhorrence in the rise

Therefore, admiration for him is changing into abhorrence in the heart of his own followers in BJD. Biju sycophants are not leaving the party; but are opposing him in the party. This is so sharp that a person like Jagneswar Babu, regarded more as a gentlemen than a politician, has been suspended on disciplinary ground. In every district, BJD is distinctly divided into two fractions – pro-administration and pro-organization. In every nook and corner of Orissa, Congress is getting flow of support from disillusioned members of the BJD in its Parivartan Padayatra which the latter is trying to counter through Jana Sampark Yatra. The Jana Samparka Yatra itself is indicative of how abhorrence to Naveen is in the rise.

Ministers Morcha Vrs Jana Morcha

How far the Padayatra campaign of the Congress party can bring in Parivartan (the change in power) is, curiously, not the crux of public interest in Orissa. The anti-people policies shamelessly pursued by the Congress party and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh under American influence are being intently watched by the people and the Congress leadership knows that the people are waiting to give the American agents the lesion they deserve, when they are to give their verdict in elections. Individuals like Prasad Harichandan, marked for personal honesty, integrity and efficiency may win; but that won’t be a Congress win.

So, what forms the crux of public interest in Orissa is the internecine tussle that has engulfed BJD.

In every unit of BJD, members recruited by Pyari are active in organization and they are active also against their colleagues who rally round the ministers for personal benefits while neglecting the organization. The ministers boast of power and bask under self-glorification in the company of sycophants and habitual order-carriers of whosoever holds power. Genuine party workers with a bit of self-respect are blatantly ignored in every party unit. On the other hand, Pyari had inspired party workers with recognition of their political worth after deliberately extinguishing the BJD alliance with BJP by unilaterally declaring to set party candidates in every constituency. Had he not done that, Naveen would never have got MLAs to continue as CM for the third term. When innumerable people of Orissa are getting displaced because of Naveen’s nexus with the Tatas and the Ambanis and the POSCOs and the likes, when eco-systems are getting destroyed because of the same nexus, when development funds are getting looted, when welfare projects are getting derailed, when crop fields are inundated with toxic industrial ashes, when slow starvation continues, when distress sale of paddy, distress sale of body, distress sale of baby child are regular phenomena, when officers are ruling the roost, it was not unnatural for genuine BJD members to explore if Pyari could intervene and bring out a change in the stance of administration. But this has landed the party in such a jam that Pyari himself is suspended sans any scope for self-defense. Rightly for him, he has described Naveen as a Bhasmasura.

BJD is becoming murkier as the ministers and their yes-men (Ministers Morcha) want to nip in the bud the Orissa Jan Morcha that Pyari has given birth to.

The scenario may usher in an alternative

Orissa is discernibly disturbed. The scenario is shocking.

But it may usher in an alternative.

The Main Opposition – Congress – is trying to revive itself. But with compradors comprising its high command, patriotic people of Orissa will not vote for it.

Agrarians by birth, with social outlook refined by ideology of Jagannatha-Buddha, the Oriyas are a people who are proud of their ancient culture of universal brotherhood; and therefore, can never support aggressive communalism. Hence BJP has no chance of having the people’s mandate.

Left is the best alternative the people dream about. But, when CPM feels no qualms in publicly projecting Mulayam Singh Yadav as the communists’ prime-ministerial candidate, people are too shocked to rely upon them.

During the last two months, one has witnessed various think-tank-seminars in Orissa that search for possible alliance between genuine left and democratic progressive forces, so that a viable alternative could be placed before the voters. But political opportunism promoted by the plutocrats is so very rampant that such an alternative looks very remote.

With no other alternative readily available, Pyari’s Jan Morcha may fill up the vacuum.

Strategically they may use Biju’s name to withstand what the Ministers Morcha would be doing for Naveen.

But, the genuine left and democratic, progressive forces may find in it a ready ally to save the State from anarchy.

Thus, come, October 28, with Orissa Jan Morcha defining its real shape, an alternative may emerge if the genuine left finds in it a progressive ally.

FDI: Offence Against Paramountcy of India’s Parliament

Subhas Chandra Pattanayak

It is more heinous than all the crimes against the country so far perpetrated by the Congress Party. And the perpetrators of this crime is Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who with his cronies in the cabinet has been acting against the people of India in the style of serving the people.

The notification promulgating induction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Multi-Brand Retail Trading is the instant crime that will push the country back into the environment of British rule in India and will severely injure the country’s independence by making it dependant on foreigners.

All the patriots of India are openly against this crime.

And this crime is so very severe that, henceforth, till the criminals are removed from power, there shall be no rest for the patriots.

Like in the phase of nuke deal with USA, Singh will try to survive in power by using the method he had then used, which is a tested method of the Congress party since the days of his model P. V. Narasingh Rao, whose survival as Prime Minister despite loss of credibility and absence of majority in the House, was based on support availed from a section of non-Congress MPs.

Support to satyrs in red-light districts is of course not surprising. But democracy is not a red-light district. Therefore, history has seen how Rao, then the armour of the saboteurs of India’s national resolve for socialism, having been used in subjugating the country to USA hegemony through the gateway of GATT, was thrashed into the dustbin of politics, even though thereby Vajpayee of BJP was to gain. It would be wrong for Singh not to take note of this noting of history.

Damager of Parliamentary dignity

After creating an environment that killed the last session of the Parliament, Singh not only made his cabinet resolve for induction of FDI in Multi-Brand Retail Trading with a further sinister design to divert public attention from the monstrously embarrassing coalgate, but also has enforced the resolution through notification thereof in total disregard to paramountcy of the Parliament where a parliamentary action had put the issue of FDI to rest under Parliamentary jurisdiction.

Let us look into it.

In responding to a calling attention motion from Gurudas Dasgupta (CPI) and Nishikant Dubey (BJP), the then FINANCE Minister Pranab Mukherjee had informed the Loksabha on 25 March 2011 that FDI in Multi-Brand Retail Trading was objected to by majority respondents to the public discussion raised thereon by the Ministry of Commerce, as a result of which, the inter-Ministerial Committee headed by the Senior Economic Advisor to the Department of Consumer Affairs, was unable to make any recommendation.

Those who had interacted with the Committee belonged mostly to the category of farmers, small traders, villagers and Self-Help Groups. They had opposed FDI in multi-brand retail; the Minister had told the House, quoting the Committee.

The Minister had further told the House that it was a problem on which the States should be taken into confidence and had assured the House not to impose any decision before a consensus was arrived at. As leader of the Loksabha, he had repeated this assurance again on 7 December 2011.

Thus a specific assurance was repeatedly given to the Loksabha on 25 March 2011 and 7 December 2011 that FDI would rest, till the States accept the proposal and the proposal earns consensus support.

By virtue of this assurance, the issue of FDI was put under the jurisdiction the Parliament.

The Parliament, specifically the Loksabha, had to know and examine if the States were taken to confidence by Singh administration in the matter of FDI and if consensus support was available to it.

Then only the issue could have been cleared by the Parliament.

It has not happened.

Hence by promulgating induction of FDI in multi-brand retail trading, Singh and his cronies have shown savage contempt against the paramountcy of Parliament and have committed the worst ever crime against the country.

The 20th September Bandh Hartal has made it clear that except the agents of foreign interest and their mindless mad allies, the entire patriotic population in India is against FDI in multi-brand retail trading.

Crime against the Martyrs

Indians are a nation that had given thousands of heads to the martyrdom to free the country from foreigners. Manmohan Singh and his cronies, who do not belong to the gamut of freedom fighters, are nullifying the martyrs’ supreme sacrifices by throwing the country back into the grip of foreign traders. They are shattering the dreams of our freedom fighters. Such crimes against the martyrs and the freedom fighters will never be tolerated by Indian patriots. So, whosoever has patriotism has started to oppose the Singh design.

The imperial Sun will be kept set

When imperialism was epitomized by the British, they had the pride in bragging that the Sun never sets in their Empire. But it is the Indians that had forced the British Sun to set all over the world wherever indigenous people were under its imperial occupation. They will not allow the sun of imperialism rise on their soil again. Revolt of the Trinmul Congress against the UPA and resignation of all the TMC Ministers from Singh’s cabinet is just a beginning in this regard.

To us it is welknown that the traitors in power never stay in power for ever. They act against the people in the style of serving the people, till the people wake up against their treachery and throw them out of power.

The people are waking up. The 20th September Bharat Bandh has blown the trumpet.

ORISSA MATTERS CONDEMNS THE BRUTAL ATTACK ON MEDIA MAGNET SOUMYA RANJAN

Subhas Chandra Pattanayak
(Pictorial input from Atulya Mohanty through Prasanta Patnaik)

ORISSA MATTERS strongly condemns the brutal attack on media magnet Soumya Ranjan Patnaik by the Orissa Police that hounded him into the residence of Rabinarayan Pani, a ruling party MLA, before inflicting on him injuries, simply because he belongs also to the Congress party, that had a tremendous congregation before the Assembly on September 6 in protest against continuous misrule by the BJD.

For a corrupt and anti-people Government, the last hope for survival lies in terrorizing its opponents. The bloody attack on the Congress congregation by use of the Police, therefore, is not surprising.

Having usurped power under circumstances not yet clearly comprehended by many, but clearly when minemongers even of foreign countries were zeroing on Orissa, the nature’s monumental depository of mineral wealth, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given a government that has earned a non-dismissible disrepute as a government more eager to oblige mines-eyeing industries than the land-loosing indigenous people.

The administration’s dubious conduct in squandering away mines apart, people have reasons to be aggrieved in every sphere, as corruption has become so all-pervasive that shrewd fellows in the lowest rank in government offices like night-watchmen and peons have become multimillionaires. How much the top functionaries have benefited is not easy to fathom out. In the language of the Opposition, it is a loot raj.

Against this loot of the State, the Congress party had given a call for protest in front of the Assembly. More than a lakh of people congregated in the earmarked area on the Mahatma Gandhi road on September 6. Government did not tolerate.

The pictures would present what happened.

Blood oozes out as corrupt administration promulgates brutality.

They had no qualms in attacking the rally participants before TV cameras.

Brutality knew no limits. So many police personnel pried upon a single person.

The rightful congregation of Congress party was held with permission from the appropriate authority.

Yet the police terrorized the participants to flee.

The attackers.

State terror knows no barrier.

Office of the Opposition vandalized.

Another blood-drenched victim of the suckers of the State.

Tolerance reached the last limit.

The people retort.

Wrath knows no fear.

When the people retorted, a good many number of police personnel suffered injuries.

The congregation was politically surcharged, yet peaceful. Had the police not been rash and rather could have been vigilant enough to control the agent provocateurs, the road named after Mahatma Gandhi would not have witnessed the avoidable violence.

Left, the Last Hope, shouldn’t be Lost: India’s interest instead of Singh’s, is Essential

Subhas Chandra Pattanayak

What the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is doing after his office and the department under his control got exposed in the coal block scam by the Country’s highest Constitutional Authority on audit and accounts, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India?

He himself has been trying and encouraging his cabinet colleagues to damage the credibility of this Constitutional Authority, the CAG.

Such a disservice to the nation from the highest political authority is not found in any democracy.

The parties that practice economy of inequality like the BJP do not look at this intricate offense against India; because, besides being allies of the Congress in plutocracy, their role during the reign of Vajpayee was also averse to the primordial role of CAG in ensuring financial discipline a government is needed to adhere to.

But, the left parties in India too, are conspicuous by their silence over the biting reality that the Prime Minister’s attempt to denigrate the CAG is the most harmful assault on the very structure on which India’s Parliamentary Democracy stands.

Economy being the essence of the country’s life and the basis of all its activities, denigration of CAG by the Prime Minister would precipitate ruin of the credibility of the specific and the only instrument created by the founders of independent India to provide the Parliament with the necessary feedback to make the government answerable and to draw up direction of administration. So, more than the massive scam, the monstrosity of Prime Minister Singh’s attack on CAG deserves serious remedial measures.

The only remedy to this serious syndrome lies in removal of Dr. Singh from the Prime Minister post. The BJP is absolutely right in demanding his resignation as a prerequisite to discussion over the issue in Parliament. Otherwise, it would help Dr. Singh to escape by throwing further confusing tirades against the CAG, notwithstanding how harmful that would be to the economic management of the country.

In this critical juncture, instead of acting a go-between, the left should stand with the BJP in demands for Singh’s resignation. The rank opportunism of the smaller parties that have no adherence to any political economy and no track record of political probity, are susceptible to money-bag influence as has often been observed. Hence a great responsibility lies on the Left to help India get rid of the compradors and, in this respect, their plea for hearing the PM on the issue is of no real utility. If they are serious, they should strengthen the demand for Dr. Singh’s resignation. Dr. Singh’s leader Sonia Gandhi, who is on records to have asked her followers to “attack” the Opposition, must not be allowed to derail democracy by such tricks of browbeating. And, unless the Left becomes one with the BJP in refusing to be browbeaten, the country would suffer an injury that can hardly be tackled instantly.

It pains us recalling that the left’s alliance with Dr. Singh in the preceding Parliament had ushered in the era of India’s subjugation to USA hegemony, specifically in the matter of the nuke deal with that country. The gateway to a “bonanza” to US nuke traders, the Hyde Act was “signed, sealed” and made “irrevocable” by Dr. Singh behind back of the Parliament even though for signing the agreement, the prerequisite was that “the Indian Parliament must agree to the text” of the Hyde Act. The “text” of the Hyde act was not placed before the Parliament and the Left, despite vociferous protests against signing the nuke deal, had never made the point that the Parliament “must agree” or “disagree” to the “text” of the said Act. It had neither wanted the speaker to make the Parliament discuss the “text” of the Hyde Act in order to “agree” or “disagree” to the “text” thereof nor had it terminated its alliance with the Congress on the ground of treachery against the country. It continued its alliance with Dr. Singh, till, smaller fishes, sans any political ideology, were netted in to stand with him in his seeking of confidence in nuke deal context. Such acrobatics are of no gain for the country and it would be wrong again for the left to fall into the trap of debates on the coal scam before Dr. Singh, who has denigrating the CAG for the exposure of the scams in his report, resigns to ensure that through the debate, the Parliament does not become a platform of abuse of the apex auditor.

We have also the experience of how BJP acts in connivance with the Congress when thereby the underworld is sure to benefit. Jaswant Singh’s withdrawal of his motion on collapse of the terror funding bank BCCI is an instance. So, there is no reason for us to believe that the BJP is sincere in its demands for resignation of Dr. Singh.

But to us, resignation of Dr. Singh is the only way to ensure an appropriate appraisal of the CAG report.

When the country has been transformed into a plutocracy by the compradors in nexus with non-communists, the Left is the last hope for our people for revival of democracy and it should not make it the lost hope.

Hence, it is now the Left’s responsibility to strengthen every voice that demands for Dr. Singh’s resignation without bothering about from beneath which flag that voice emanates. Otherwise, it will fail in its duty to our innocent people that are uninformed, less informed, misinformed.

Manmohan Must Resign or else MPs Opposed to His Corruption Should: A Fresh Poll Alone Can Save India

Subhas Chandra Pattanayak

With a Prime Minister as corrupt as Dr. Manmohan Singh, the parliamentary democracy in India has become a great farce and a tragedy.

With less than half of the amount exposed by the CAG to have been lost to the exchequer because of his administration’s nexus with the looters, the entire country could have been saved from draught for all time to come.

The monstrous loot has been carried out in the departments administered by Dr. Singh. It is wrong to say that the minister-in-charge is not corrupt when corruption is discernibly so rampant in the department(s) he rules over. Hence, with the mega mega scams unveiled by CAG, Dr. Singh deserves to be considered hugely corrupt.

It is sad that the he has been trying to denigrate the CAG in reaction to the exposure. He has even started alleging that the CAG is wrong in calculation! This nasty design against the apex audit authority would most severely jeopardize the future of India. So it is urgent to defeat this design. It is urgent for the people to ask Dr. Singh to quit and it is incumbent upon the Congress Party to replace Dr. Singh with another in the PM post.

But, instead of asking Dr. Singh to resign after the mega mega scams are exposed by the CAG, the lady autocrat of the ruling Congress, has asked her party to “attack” the Opposition, which is demanding for resignation of Dr. Singh from the PM post. Such posture is aimed at reducing the Parliament to a captive Parliament. It cannot be countenanced.

The Parliament needs be saved from the assault Sonial Ganghi has instigated her party MPs to perpetrate.

Like in nuke deal tangle, it is possible for Dr. Singh to overcome the impasse by cultivating support from any of ideology-less parties susceptible to extraneous influences. The looters of the exchequer can go to any extent to render the audit report inconsequential.

For saving the country from the looters, it is essential to have a fresh election to the Loksabha.

But with Sonia sycophant in President post, this is not to happen easily.

An environment needs be developed to force the President to accept popular demands for a fresh poll.

Therefore, it would be proper for any MP having an iota of responsibility towards the Republic to resign from the Parliament which alone can build up the necessary environment for a fresh election.

If the BJP is not making a drama of opposition as it seen doing on different occasions in the past, it should lead the Opposition by asking its MPs to resign from the Parliament and create a situation for a fresh election. The left parties at this juncture should stand with the BJP, if its MPs resign from Parliament, as it seems to be the only method to get rid of the gang of compradors whose flagrant violation of laws in allowing loot of the exchequer has been convincingly exposed by the constitutional authority of audit.

If It is Really His Site, Pranab Mukherjee Should Certainly be Censored

Subhas Chandra Pattanayak

A shocked friend sent me a link obtained from facebook that led me to a page carrying a link to Pranab Mukherjee’s personal website.

The above picture is the picture of that page obtained through screen shot.

As I clicked on the link there and the site opened, I was so shocked that I could not believe my eyes and ears for what hit me. I suspected the facebook link. Then I made a google search for Mukherjee’s personal website. I found the same link also in the google search page. The picture below is the picture of the google search page obtained through screen shot.

The so-called Congress high command, in the past, had planted some of its loyal factotums as President of India taking advantage of the constitutional provisions that the President would not be elected directly by the people.

But no sycophant of the Congress high command, preceding Pranab in the President post, had, after becoming the President, ever shown the audacity of calling upon the countrymen to proceed hand-in-hand with the Congress Party. Pranab is doing this. The background song of his personal website gives this call. Click here to see the site and to hear the song.

If the google search result is correct, if the link to his site in the facebook is not incorrect, if the site is really his site, Pranab Mukherjee deserves to be censored in the strongest term one can use. No Indian, worth the epithet, can digest such destruction of the dignity of India’s President.

Mukherjee must ensure that the song of his mad loyalty to the Congress Party, in use as the background song of his personal site, is instantly deleted; because he has, howsoever unfortunate for India is his election to the august office, become the President.
